FAQ

Answers to questions about prints, paintings, policies and processes below. If you have a question I've not addressed, please email me!

THE TINY PAINTINGS ARE ALL SOLD OUT! WILL THERE BE MORE?

For as long as the tiny paintings continue to be fun and informative to my larger studio practice, yes, there will be more! I will continue to release them in batches every month or so, with advance notice via Instagram and email. Follow me on instagram @westkim for updates there, and/or send me a note via the contact page and I will include you on my email-letter update list.

HOW ARE PRINTS AND TINY PAINTINGS SHIPPED?

Prints are carefully packed into protective plastic sleeves, sandwiched in corrugated cardboard, and sent in a reinforced bubble mailer. Print sets of 5 are packaged similarly to the individual prints, however they are secured into portfolio-style corrugated cardboard sandwiches and shipped in a custom corrugated cardboard mailer. Tiny Paintings are packed into protective plastic sleeves, wrapped in bubble wrap, and sent in a reinforced bubble mailer.

Tiny Paintings, print sets and large prints are sent USPS Priority Mail, insured and require a signature confirmation.

Larger work, or work indicated as "shipping not included" can be quoted from a 3rd party shipping service for crating.

I LIVE IN LA. DO I HAVE TO PAY FOR SHIPPING OR CAN I PICK UP THE WORK AT YOUR STUDIO?

If you'd like to pick up locally, I host an open-studio window of time for purchased work once, shortly after a sale. If you are interested in this option, please indicate that choice with a note to me as you check out, and I will respond with the studio pick-up time and date. If you can make the pick-up window, I will refund your shipping charges to the account with which you paid when you stop by for the work.

DO YOU SELL YOUR LARGER WORK?

Yes, but not online. However I occasionally send out a pdf with available work to those who have made a request. Email me if you'd like to get on that list!

WHERE CAN I SEE OR BUY YOUR WORK IN PERSON?

You can use the contact form to indicate that you'd like to be added to my mailing list for notifications of upcoming exhibits, pop-ups, and sales or promotions. If you happen to live in Los Angeles, or are in town visiting, email me to stop by for a drink and shop the studio.

ARE YOU AVAILABLE FOR PAINTING AND MURAL COMMISSIONS?

Yes, email me!

DO YOU SIGN THE WORK?

All limited edition prints are signed and numbered just below the bottom part of the image, within the white border space.

Print Sets are the selected groupings of 5 prints that are printed with their own numbered edition, and they are signed with the edition number as well as "A.C.S, No. 1 (and so forth) which stands for 'Artist Curated Set, Number 1'.

Tiny Painting originals are signed on the front, and titled and dated on the reverse.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO RECEIVE MY ORDER?

Though you will likely receive your order more quickly, please do allow 12 business days from the day your order is placed for processing and domestic shipping.

MY ORDER WAS DAMAGED DURING SHIPPING. NOW WHAT?

If the image area of your print arrives with shipping damage or has a flaw, please email me a photo of the damaged packaging and damaged image as soon as possible.

Though prints are packaged and prepared for shipping with the utmost attention to care,  print edges and corners occasionally suffer slight bending or creasing over the course of the transit process. Accounting for these potential damages is why I have all images printed with a 1-inch white border allowance. If your print arrives with any of these described blemishes to the edges or corners, you can easily have your framer trim the piece back to a standard 1/4 inch or 1/2 inch white border, which will still allow the signature and number to be shown, and the integrity of the print will not be compromised.

Similarly, if a Tiny Painting arrives with any damage, please contact me with a photograph of the packaging and damaged area immediately.

THE COLORS ON SCREEN ARE DIFFERENT FROM THE COLORS IN MY PRINT/PAINTING!!!

I do my best to photograph all pieces to represent the most realistic representation of the work. All photos are made in natural light, without the use of filters. Having said that, as you know, all screens vary and it is impossible to make up for this. Further, some colors frequent to my palette - for example, neon oranges and opera pinks - do not replicate incredibly well on screens. Of course I would say this, but: it all looks better in person!

CAN I USE AN IMAGE OF YOUR WORK TO PUT ON MY WEBSITE / ON A T-SHIRT / ON MY BUSINESS CARD / ON MY INVITATION (ETC)?

Nope! All the rights to all the images on this site are reserved and are protected by copyright laws and may not be used in any way without permission. Similarly, once a work is purchased, the owner of the piece owns the piece, but not the rights to the reproduction of the work. However, I occasionally work out licensing agreements for image use if a project seems like fun - email me!

WOULD YOU BE WILLING TO DONATE SOME WORK TO MY CHARITY?

Maybe, it depends on the project and the charity. Currently, 5% of proceeds from all sales of the 101 based prints are donated to the ALS Association in support of finding a cure, and 5% of proceeds from all sales of the Tiny Paintings series are donated to IAVA (Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America) in support of their suicide prevention work.
